Dallas Pets Alive!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending an adoption event for Dallas Pets Alive!.  Before I go too much into the event itself, I have to tell you a funny story.
In the process of contacting DPA! to volunteer, I saw a photo of the sweetest dog at Dallas Animal Services that needed a foster.

I spoke to my husband (describing him as a Dog lover is the understatement of the year) who was instantly on board. So we submitted a Foster Application at 7:30 at night on Wednesday the 30th.  Within about 2 hours, I received a call from them going over Foster basics, and approving us to come meet him.
On Thursday the 31st, we took all three kids out to Dallas Animal Services to visit with him and be sure he was child (and dog) friendly, which he was.  He was an absolute lover and even prettier in person than he was in his shelter photo.

They quickly got him scheduled for his surgery appointment (all dogs leaving DAS are spayed/neutered and given a microchip before they are released) the next morning, and on Friday the 1st, we were Dallas-bound, heading to pick up our new foster dog!
Dallas Pets Alive! does a jailbreak photo anytime a dog is released to their foster, so we made sure to bring all three kids for that photo opportunity.

I could go into our entire experience (though it was a short one) but I’ll save you all the details and simply say, Bear was better than we could have imagined.  He truly is a fantastic dog. So after about 4 days of having him in our care, we agreed that we simply couldn’t part with him.  We had tossed around the idea of getting a second dog anyways, and had felt that fostering for a while was a good way to have a “trial period” with a second dog in the house, but didn’t expect to fall so much in love with our first foster! He is 13 months old and now officially a Spivey :)

So, I volunteered to take photos at an adoption event, and ended up adopting a dog. LOL!

Immediately before we finalized his adoption, Patrick and I attended an adoption event in Downtown Dallas and took photos of the dogs that were there.  We had a great time meeting other foster families and their pups, and I wanted to share their images here. I figure the more places their photos are posted, the better the chances of them finding a home!
